We don’t receive wisdom, we discover it for ourselves after a journey which no one can take for us or spare us,
for it is a point of view about things. –Marcel Proust
The Spirituality and Mental Wellness Group provides spiritual, supportive, and educational growth opportunities as one strives to find strength in the face of mental illness. The group gives participants an opportunity to both give and receive support, to make a deeper connection with God and oneself, and to practice tools which may help make one’s life more manageable.
The Spirituality and Mental Wellness Group is a small group designed to help those who personally struggle with depression, anxiety, mood swings, intrusive thoughts, persistent fears, phobias, or other mental health concerns could benefit from the support and nurturing environment experienced in this small group setting. We invite you to come and share your experience with those who understand.
Each meeting will include:
• An opening ritual and prayer,
• A time to share our stories and receive support,
• Educational input to help one make the most of one’s life,
• A spiritual focus.
Topics such as: Connection with God and self, balance, relaxation and breathing, capitalizing on talents, finding meaning, building support and coping skills will be discussed.
Participants must currently be under the supervision of a trained therapist.
The Spirituality and Mental Wellness Group meets on the first Thursday of each month from 3:00-4:30pm. For more information, please contact Jean Thoresen, Director of Pastoral Care, 952-405-7211, or firstname.lastname@example.org.
