What is Cristo Rey Jesuit High School? Jesuit-run CRISTO REY HIGH SCHOOL in south Minneapolis is part of a network of schools originally opened in Chicago in 1994. Since then the network has grown into an association of 19 similar inner-urban high schools serving economically disadvantaged populations across the U.S. Over the short history of Cristo Rey schools, students have consistently achieved graduation rates over 90% with 95% of graduates continuing on to college or university. The Twin Cities Cristo Rey students receive college preparatory courses and professional work experience. Each student will work five school days a month in the offices of established intern partners which include Fortune 500 companies, hospitals, law firms, and non-profit organizations. Pax Christi Catholic Community is funding the position of Chaplain. This is part of a well designed program of wellness that is being developed along with and by Allina's Back Yard Project that addresses the health of the full community and includes emotional, social, physical, occupational, intellectual, and spiritual wellness. Their mission is to provide an affordable, safe, values-centered education in the Jesuit tradition that prepares their graduates for success in college and life.

*What is a Justice Grant Recipient? Since Pax Christi Catholic Community was founded just over 25 years ago, the community has set aside a portion of its weekly Sunday collection, which now stands at 10%. These funds support works of mercy and justice in the wider Minneapolis/St. Paul metropolitan area and beyond. The majority of the Justice Tithe is distributed through the Pax Christi Justice Grants Program. $2 million in grants have been made to nonprofit organizations since 1995. All Justice Grants are made for purposes that reflect Roman Catholic social teaching and moral standards.
