Grocery Shopping Driver Drivers are needed for families at St. Stephen's Human Services Most of these families need to walk many blocks or take a bus with sometimes two transfers to even get to a grocery store. Families are unable to buy ice cream or anything that might melt because it will take too long to get home, and they have to carry whatever they buy limiting the quantity and weight of what they buy. Please take a minute to consider this volunteer opportunity which only requires one or two hours of your time every other week. Call St. Stephen’s Human Services directly to sign-up by contacting Marissa, the Volunteer Coordinator, mpherson@ststephensmpls.org, or 612-879-7627.
East Side Learning Center Volunteer OpportunityDo you work or go to college in the St. Paul area?? Are you interested in teaming up with 2-3 other Pax members to sponsor a student as their tutor on a rotating schedule? Each person would only need to be available to tutor once a week for an hour at one of the many times listed in the brochure. This way the student would have the continuity of the same team which has proven to help tremendously in their progress and you would have some back-up people for sickness, travel, conflicts, etc. We ask for a 3 month commitment. Please e-mail justice@paxchristi.com, or call Allison Boisvert, 952-405-7225, to be matched up with others that want to form a team.
Cabrini Partnership Volunteer Opportunity Neighbor to Neighbor: Assist people as they move into a new apartment. This opportunity includes helping them select furnishings at Bridging, securing household items, and providing friendship, guidance, and support as the individual adjusts to a new neighborhood and surroundings. This is an individual or small group volunteer opportunity. Contact is expected once a week for the first four to six weeks. Training will be provided. Contact Leon Axtman, 612-331-7390, ext. 215, to volunteer for this position, or check out their other volunteer opportunities at www.cabrinipartnership.org/getinvolved/volunteer.html. To Volunteer:
• Send an email to justice@paxchristi.com and someone will contact you.
• Join an e-mail group of like-minded Social Justice Pax Christi members so you will receive periodic e-mails regarding upcoming Justice related events and volunteer opportunities. We hope everyone will get involved and feel the satisfaction of helping another with a hand-up, not a hand-out. To join, e-mail justice@paxchristi.com, indicate interest in joining the e-mail group, and provide the e-mail address you'd like added to the group list. • If none of the organizations or opportunities you see fit your needs, call or email Allison Boisvert, Social Justice Minister, 952-405-7225, or aboisvert@paxchristi.com, for additional ideas.
• For alternative volunteer opportunities, contact Mary Kennedy, Director of Stewardship, 952-405-7220, or mkennedy@paxchristi.com.
